Women in Scripture Comes to Holy Martyrs

Women in Scripture

1:30-4:30 p.m. Sunday, March 3 in Martyrs Hall

1:30-4:30 p.m. Sunday, March 10 in Martyrs Hall

In these lively sessions that are more like workshops, Kim Langley offers insights into what women’s lives were like in biblical times and then connects that to the stories about women in Scripture. We learn of their struggles and triumphs, and uncover the parallels in our own lives through reflection and discussion.

These sessions, open to both men and women, include time together and time alone, journaling, slides, music and prayer. Sign up HERE.

March 3: Women in Scripture, Women Like Us — Reflecting on our own lives through joyful meetings with women in the Hebrew and Christian Scriptures finds us face to face with the moving stories of Sarah, Hannah, two headstrong midwives, an ideal wife, Mary Magdalene, Priscilla, a woman bent double, a widow of Nain, and a woman suffering chronic illness.

March 10: More than Baking Bread: Untold Stories of Women and the Word Revealed offers fascinating insights into the lives of well-known and little-known biblical women — Eve, the midwives Shiphrah and Puah, Miriam, Priscilla, Junia and others.  Their stories, strength and courage provide a rich experience and offer a new perspective to the role of women in the Bible…and present-day life.

The cost is $15 to attend one session or $25 for both sessions. Payment will be accepted at the door. A soup and salad lunch is included. Both men and women are welcome, and you may attend the 5:00 p.m. Youth Mass afterward. Sign up HERE.
