Holy Martyrs Catholic Church

El Salvador Mission

Holy Martyrs Church was founded in 1980. Our church was named to honor El Salvador martyrs … Archbishop Oscar Romero of El Salvador, assassinated while celebrating Mass in San Salvador in 1980 – and the four churchwomen serving in El Salvador, who were also killed in 1980. Our parish has developed a sister parish relationship with Immaculada Concepcion in La libertad, El Salvador. Our overall El Salvador Mission goal is scholarships for selected students to attend a trade school or college/university in El Salvador. Our first scholarship fundraiser was a successful golf outing in 2014 called “Fore The Kids”. Our scholarship emphasis was the result of visits to Immaculada Concepcion and El Salvador – and our assessment that our best assistance to our sister parish would be post secondary financial help to select students. We are exploring other ways to help our sister parish – the parish school has many needs; providing communion for the homebound in a mountainous country is challenging; some drugs are so costly that a Mission subsidy would help; etc…

You should consider joining us if you appreciate the Cleveland Diocese’s 50+ year commitment in El Salvador – have a real interest in understanding and helping our Catholic brothers and sisters in our sister parish in El Salvador – and value the opportunity to learn from another culture … so that our “help” is appropriate and impactful.
